Nate Diaz was BETTER than Jake Paul in Saturday’s fight, claims UFC chief Dana White – despite the MMA star losing in 10 rounds to YouTube sensation

UFC boss Dana White has claimed that Nate Diaz was better than Jake Paul in their matchup from last week, despite the MMA star losing in 10 rounds via unanimous decision.

The 54-year-old gave his take on Saturday’s boxing match in Dallas, Texas, after the end of his Contender Series 57 on Tuesday.

‘For a kid pushing 40 years old fighting a guy four weight classes bigger than him in boxing and two in MMA and going the distance at his age against a 20-f***ing-something- year-old kid, so far, he’s fared the best,’ White told MMA Junkie

‘He looked good. I’m happy for him.’

During the fight this past weekend, Diaz, who left UFC after 15 years in 2022, praised his former promotion and shared that he intends to eventually return before retiring.

White was ambiguous when asked about his knowledge of a potential reunion, but made it clear that he still has a love for Diaz and his impact in mixed martial arts.

‘We feel the same way about Nate. We always have,’ White said. ‘I always joke around about dealing with the Diaz brothers. These two, you see it now. They’re two iconic fighters that 20 years from now everybody will remember and talk about.

‘This will always be Nate’s house. Nate grew up here. He came up on ”The Ultimate Fighter.” He fought some of the biggest fights ever here. We love the kid. I don’t know about fighting in the future, but this always going to be his house. We’ll see.’

Diaz has earned somewhere between $15-$20million throughout his UFC career but reportedly made a lot more than that in his only fight against Paul in the Lone Star State.

White also shared his love for Diaz, who he said 'grew up' in UFC, and that the promotion will always be the 38-year-old's home

Zach Rosenfeld – Diaz’s longtime representative – revealed that the 38-year-old made a pact with Paul to split all the profit from the fight and is set to make five times more than the $4million earned from the Conor McGregor rematch, according to MARCA.

‘Next time you watch a fight, try to notice every single brand that’s associated with that fight,’ Rosenfield said. ‘What’s on the canvas, the ring or cage, on the broadcast.

‘Every single one of those was approved by the partnership of this fight and we will see [a cut of the revenues from it.]’

Diaz started his own promotion with Rosenfield after witnessing the success that Paul found when he came up with Most Valuable Promotions.

Diaz’s Real Fighting, Inc. and MVP will split revenue from the fight after covering event costs, a multi-million business partnership expected to reach over $20 million per fighter, according to Bloody Elbow.
