Drake LOSES another $250,000 after betting on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul… just months after he lost $400k for backing ‘The Problem Child’ against Tommy Fury

Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz has cost Drake $250,000 (£196,080) after the rapper bet on the former UFC legend to win the fight.

The pair faced off in Dallas in a hard-fought encounter, with ‘The Problem Child’ emerging victorious by unanimous decision – 97-92, 98-91, 98-91.

Their bout went a full 10 rounds, the first time Paul has done so, while it was also Diaz’s first contest in boxing having left UFC after 15 years in 2022.

The 38-year-old was knocked down in the fifth round by his younger opponent but battled through despite sporting two severe black eyes by the end, although Paul was the clear winner.

And Drake – who has become notorious for his high-stakes sports bets – had shared a bet slip on his Instagram story on Saturday that showed he had risked $250k (£196,080) to win $1million (£784,320) on Diaz defeating Paul.

‘Jake is a dog but I can never bet against a Diaz brother that’s just how I was raised,’ he captioned the photo.

However, the result is the latest betting defeat for the Canadian in what has become known as the ‘Drake Curse’.

The rapper has waged several high-profile stakes over the past year such as when he lost $1million (£784,320) after betting on Argentina to beat France in normal time in the World Cup final.

Similarly, last October he lost $684,000 (£537,000) on Barcelona to defeat Real Madrid in El Classico, while he lost $2m (£1.7m) after backing UFC star Israel Adesanya to beat Brazilian Alex Pereira

It also the second time he has lost a large sum of money involving Paul, with Drake backing him to knock out Tommy Fury during their exhibition bout in Saudi Arabia in February.

On that occasion he staked $400,000 (£313,728) on the ex-YouTuber, before he was defeated via split decision to Fury.

Paul apologised after that fight for costing Drake a hefty sum but jokingly blamed the rapper for his loss in the ring.

‘F***, this is Drake’s fault,’ he said on February 26.

‘$400k is nothing to him. He’s won a lot more money betting on me before, so he’s probably about even now.’

Following the Diaz-Paul fight, the pair are set to face off in a $10m (£7.84m) MMA rematch after agreeing to do so just moments after the result was announced.
