Eddie Hearn has admitted that it was ‘surreal’ to star in the Hollywood-style trailer for the Day of Reckoning event, last month.

The boxing promoter led the stars depicted as the undead in a promo for the huge line-up of boxing talent in Riyadh – with Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker, Otto Wallin all getting involved.

Organisers produced a trailer that looks straight out of a big-budget horror movie that shows the big names involved walking around the streets as zombies.

In the trailer, fans are shown a stern-looking Anthony Joshua writing a message on a newspaper in blood, before Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn is revealed sitting next to him, putting out his cigar in the head of another zombie.

Speaking exclusively to Mail Sport’s Charlotte Daly, Hearn said: ‘It was really surreal. We’re not really used to that kind of stuff. The cost and the effort that went into it was incredible.

‘I was in the make-up truck and they kept saying I needed to be ‘more zombie’. I’m sitting in this study, I’ve got a cigar… I can’t stand cigars!

‘The one thing is that, because it was so impressive, everyone actually tried and got into character. There was a moment where AJ, in my scene, had to sign a contract with a random amputated hand that was on the desk.

‘The director said to me: ‘If you make some noise, it will be more convincing as a zombie’. So AJ’s like: ‘Urrrgh’. And I’m looking at him going: ‘What are you doing?!’. We were messaging eachother after saying ‘Great performance in there today’.

‘And [in the video] I’m sitting there going ‘Urrrgh’. Everyone embraced it, because we’re not used to it! It’s amazing to see the level of investment that they’re putting into the build-up. It’s good for boxing to see those kind of promos’.

In the trailer, Parker is the first to appear, as he sits on a bench with his head swivelling around and showing his face covered in blood.

Wallin is then seen walking along a road with another zombie holding onto his leg – before he punches it in the head.

We then see a van driving through a crowd of zombies driven by Wilder – himself undead – sitting alongside passenger Frank Warren, head of Queensbury Promotions, who has also been given the scary treatment.

After Hearn’s cameo, Joshua then walks down the stairs and decapitates another creature as Wilder and Warren continue their drive through the streets – while Bivol prepares to fight a horde of the monsters.

A wide shot is then shown of a street filled with cars on fire and boxer zombies – before the title card ‘Day of Reckoning’ appears at the top. The clip was produced by Big Time Creative Studios in a concept from Saudi entertainment minister Turki Alalshikh.
