  • Campbell Hatton suffered the first defeat of  his career to James Flint last week
  • Flint won the bout via unanimous decision with scores of 98-92, 97-94 and 97-95

Campbell Hatton’s trainer and uncle has announced that the pair have parted ways following his shock defeat to James Flint.

The 23-year-old, who is the son of boxing legend Ricky Hatton, had won all 14 of his previous fights going into his bout with Flint for the Central Area super lightweight title last week.

Hatton was the heavy favourite but Flint overcame the odds to retain his title via unanimous decision.

Flint won with scores of 98-92, 97-94 and 97-95 in what was an entertaining bout.

Hatton quickly stated his intention to return to the ring as soon as possible but it appears that will be under the guidance of a new trainer.

His uncle and trainer Matthew took to X to announce that it was time for them to move on.

He wrote: ‘what a journey the last 7 years. I’ve enjoyed it immensely Always made him a priority & always will

‘The right time to move on @campbellhatton the future is yours. Find a way. Make it happen.’

The words were accompanied by a series of photos from their time working together.
