Venus and Serena Williams got a rousing standing ovation from fans at the US Open before their doubles match on Thursday.

It’s been eight years since Venus and Serena Williams teamed up for a doubles match at Flushing Meadows. They’re turning back time this week by joining forces for perhaps the final time.

On Thursday, the sisters took the court at the US Open, receiving a huge ovation from the fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Fans have been giving Serena incredible love all week given her decision to “evolve” away from tennis. The energy on display for both sisters was palpable.

Thursday’s match could be the final time the Williams sisters play together so, of course, the event was a hot ticket. If they are eliminated, that’ll be it. If not, they’ll undoubtedly continue to draw this kind of admiration.

Venus was eliminated in the first round of the singles competition but Williams has extended her stay by pulling off victories in the first two rounds, including an upset of world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit on Wednesday.

Venus and Serena last played doubles at a grand slam even in 2018. This is their first team up at the US Open since 2014.
